Kris Cervantes is currently serving as UUWaco’s minister. A Unitarian Universalist since her parents began attending UUWaco when she was three years old, Kris attends seminary at Brite Divinity School while working as full-time minister for the Fellowship. She has been active in the UUWaco since moving back to the area in 2008. She has served on the board as secretary, president-elect, and president, as well as chairing the worship, ministerial search, and PR/Communications teams. In 2013 she served a six-month stint as Interim Ministerial Assistant, providing two sermons a month and pastoral care for church members and friends as needed, while working full-time as the Veterans Specialist for McLennan Community College. This experience, along with her service and the knowledge gained by chairing the ministerial search team, led UUWaco to hire Kris away from her prior job with veterans to serve the church full-time. She is married to US Army veteran Rob Cervantes, and has two sons, Jack and Gabe, ages 14 and 12 at the time of this writing. In her spare time, she sings, reads trashy scifi books, knits adorable scarves, watches campy TV and movies, and hangs out with her dogs, Rico and Wolfgang, and her cats, Zed and Max.
