Path to Membership
Once you have been attending UU services and feel that UUWaco is your religious home, you may want to consider becoming a member.
The present and future of UUWaco depend solely on support by its members. Each of UUWaco's members is requested to show his/her support through his/her presence, service and pledging. The expectation is one joins as a member because he/she has a desire to serve an active role at some level in supporting the sustenance and further development of UUWaco. And he/she accepts this is dependent on each member demonstrating these acts of support.
To become a member of the Unitarian Universalist Membership of Waco:
- Become a regular attendant at services for a period of time, to get to know UUWaco and Unitarian Universalism, or be transferring membership from another UU congregation..
- Contact the Membership Team to express your interest in joining (Membershipteam@UUWaco.org).
- Attend the Becoming UU orientation class either before or after joining.
- Meet with a Membership Team member to receive a New Member information packet, and to sign the Statement of Intent to Join and the membership book. (This often takes place at the conclusion of the Becoming UU orientation class.)
- Present your intention to support UUWaco with a Contribution of Record. This can be through financial or time contributions, or, preferably, both.
-
Complete and submit a membership survey which provides congregational leaders with your contact information and interests in support through preferred ways of presence and service.
-
Complete and submit a pledge card in order to present an annual financial pledge to UUWaco. Funds received help support the work of our religious community. This information is kept strictly confidential between you and UUWaco's treasurer.
You will be welcomed into membership by the congregation during a special Sunday service.
Membership is a journey
Get involved in the activities of the Fellowship as often as you are able.
Taking Your Leave
In order to remain a member, you are asked to participate in Fellowship life and make an identifiable Contribution of Record. Please let congregational leadership know if you no longer wish to be a member of UUWaco for whatever reason. We wish to honor your leaving as we honored your arrival.
