UU Waco Groups & Activities

Covenant Groups: Interested in making connections within the UU Fellowship of Waco? One of the easiest and most interesting ways to do that is to join a Covenant Group. Our Covenant Groups are formed around topics, but the reason we get together is to strenghthen our ties to the Fellowship by making personal connections with other UUs. The settings are casual and the number of people in the groups is intentionally small so that one can easily get to know everyone.

• Let's Go to the Movies
Old favorites, the greatest films made, the newest films to hit the stores. These are the movies this group watches, each member in turn choosing and bringing the "movie of the month." The viewing is followed by a lively discussion of actors, plot, directors or whatever.
Meets on 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7pm in members' homes.
Contact John Nobis at 756.4653 or jnobis@grandecom.net, or

• Exploring Spiritual Pathways
Personal conversations about the roads we have taken in our spiritual lives.
Meets 3rd Tuesday at 7pm.
Contact Bruce Allen at 776.3036 or allenbw2@sbc.global.net

• HUUmanists R Us?
A light-hearted title, but serious conversations. This group discusses and encourages spiritual discipline and explores spiritual issues from a humanist perspective.
Meets every 4 weeks on Wednesday at 6:30pm.

Choir
Our wonderful choir sings each week during the service and is co-directed by Jane Kittner and Beth Ullman. We are always looking for more voices! Rehearsals are on selected Friday evenings (about twice a month) from 5:30pm-6:30pm and Sundays before church at 10:00am. For details, contact Jane Kittner (janek@grandecom.net or 772-5117).

• Circle Suppers
Several times a year we take turns hosting dinner parties in our homes on Saturday nights. Generally eight to twelve people [who have signed up] are assigned to each host. The host and guests decide what dishes each guest will bring.

Organizational Committees

• Universal Wellness Group
7:00pm-9:00pm. 2nd Wednesdays. Come enjoy a healthy snack and a program that will address an issue related to living a healthy lifestyle.

• Waco International Folk Dancers
Meets 7:30 PM every Thursday in Fellowship Hall. Learn line and circle dancing from around the world with authentic ethnic music. Lessons provided plus fellowship and fun. Folk dancing is a gentle form of exercise, a way to connect with other cultures, a moving meditation, and a fun time. We have well over 100 (probably closer to 200) tunes from all over the world, each with a story to tell. Most are easy to learn, and all are fun to do.
